Summer School on Disability Studies 13.8.2026

The Finnish Society for Disability Research will organize a summer school targeting PhD students who are doing disability research. Master’s-level students who are interested in joining us are also more than welcome to participate in the summer school as observers.

The purpose of the summer school is to offer students a valuable opportunity to network, discuss their papers, and receive comments from senior researchers on their articles or PhD thesis chapters. Professor Jan Tøssebro from NTNU will be one of the senior researchers. You are also welcome to take part in discussions without submitting a text. The language of discussion is English.

At the beginning of the summer school, we will briefly discuss how to succeed in research funding calls. This is followed by a panel presenting both the applicant’s and the evaluator’s perspectives, and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.

The summer school will take place at the University of Helsinki (Studium 1, F 3020, Fabianinkatu 33) on 13 August, from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Participation in the summer school is free of charge for those attending the "Vammaistutkimuksen päivä" on 14 August or for members of the Finnish Society for Disability Research.

The registration deadline is 12 June 2026. Please register for the summer school: Vammaisten ihmisten historia ja nykypäivä – Täytä lomake .

The paper deadline is 6 August 2024. Please, send your paper to sihteeri@vammaistutkimus.fi .

If you need any further information about the summer school, please also write to the secretary of the Society.
